Aroha, Whakapono, Tumanako

These 3 key kupu (words) will become not only our class uara (values) but will be intertwined and put to practice on a daily basis as our Tiriti.
Aroha – Love
First we will discover what aroha means to each other and gain understanding on what aroha looks like to us.
We will then create statement about what aroha in our class will look like.
Hei tauira – Ka tiaki au i aku hoa i te wā whakataa/I will look after my friends during breaks. Aroha is displayed through caring and respect.
Whakapono – To believe, to trust
What does this look and sound like to our tamariki?
Honesty will become the norm in our class, we will also create an environment where we trust each other and feel safe sharing our whakaaro/thoughts and ideas.
Mā te whakapono i taku whānau ka whakautu au pai mai, kino mai/ Through trusting my whānau i will be honest whether it be good or bad
Tumanako – Desire, hope, wish
What is our understanding of tumanako?
Tumanako will be aligned to our work ethic. We will aim high, set goals and praise our successes.
Hei tauira – Ko te tumanako ka aro atu ki taku mahi kura/The desire is to focus on my school work
These kupu are littered throughout our waiata Māori and have great in depth meaning. I believe our tamariki will learn and grow with there kupu as our pou/foundation.
